TIME PROJECT_MMM 2020
Introduction

We first chose ice as the subject of our study. The melting ice would produce water the first day, but then it would disappear. How could we possibly create an embodied experience of time with a colorless, odorless and tasteless subject? We decided to modify the element and add color. We wanted to reflect the passing of time through the dissolution of ice, the trace it leaves and after a while, the disappearance of it. In order to do so, we opted to use ecoline ink, as after a while it would disappear.

Conclusion

After the experiment we realized that when freezing ecoline the ratio water ink was too high in favour of ink. In other words, we would need at least 75% of ink in order for the mixture (water and ink) to be strong enough to freeze and leave a strong trace of its path. Due to obvious economical reasons, we could not afford such an amount of ink.

Solution

Because of this problem we decided to switch to food coloring, which worked perfectly.
